Automated Broadcast Control
The use of computers has made a major impact in the broadcast industry in the past few years. While broadcasts used to be managed by engineers and technicians who were in charge of playing the correct component at the correct time, those tasks are now mostly controlled by computers and broadcast automation software. This software is programmed to schedule and then generate the proper component of the broadcast at the proper time. This takes the place of the reams of paperwork that the disc jockeys, engineers and technicians used to have to manage to insure that every announcement and commercial was played at the same time.
