When Installing Gutter Screens You Have to Consider the Size of the Mesh

I am thinking about installing gutter screens to keep leaves, and my kids’ toys, from getting stuck in the gutters.  After climbing an extension ladder on several occasions to retrieve balls, cars, bats, and dolls, I decided it was time to take action.  Also, I hate wasting my day off cleaning the gutters.  So I stopped in the local hardware store and asked my favorite clerk which gutter screens were the best to use.  He said it all depends on how much or how little of foreign matter you want to allow to enter your gutters.  Gutter screens with large mesh will of course let bigger leaves and twigs collect in the gutters.  This type requires more frequent cleaning of the gutters or you can just hope the rain will wash it all away. Smaller mesh keeps out more debris, but can allow it to collect on top of the screen and still prevent rain water from draining properly.  He said it was really up to me how I wanted to handle the situation.
